Posted on: 16/Jul/2013 10:38:46 AM
Justice D. Hariparanthaman of the Madras High Court dismissed a petition asking for lower pass marks for disabled candidates for the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test). Mr. K. Kumaravel had filed a petition asking for appointment under priority quota  for the disabled.

No category of people, including the disabled, could ask for lowering of qualifying marks for a pass in TET. Reservation provided for disabled people is not taken away by prescribing minimum qualifying marks, said Justice Hariparanthaman.

No person could claim any relaxation of qualifying marks in the TET, which (is) not a competitive exam Candidates who had applied under every quota such as SC, ST, MBC and BC have to secure 90 marks which is the minimum prescribed mark to pass the examination, said Additional Government Pleader P. Sanjan Gandhi.
