Chennai city has received rains now like never before in the past!!
Many low lying places in Chennai have been submerged under water and people have been facing lots of problems.
In this scenario, drones and mini hovercrafts with surveillance cameras are being used by the Chennai police personnel for relief and rescue work. The police personnel have been conducting relief operations in many flood hit places in Chennai for the last 6 days. It is worth mentioning that 13 Greater City Disaster Response teams have been constituted and each police district has been allotted one team each.
From Friday, drones and mini hovercrafts have been used with surveillance cameras and public address systems to reach out to the people stranded in flooded areas in Chennai. This was as per a senior police officer. It is learnt that each joint commissioner of police has been allotted one team with drones and hovercrafts.
Yesterday, in many localities like Washermanpet, Tondiarpet, Pulianthope, Pattalam, Mylapore, Mambalam etc drones and hovercrafts were used by the police personnel. Information is that 3428 persons affected by flooding have been rescued by the Chennai police personnel. These rescued residents are now provided shelters at 79 relief camps in the Chennai city.
