A new fish market on the Marina Loop Road in Chennai would make many residents happy!!
This would soon become a reality. The truth is that Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC has given its approval to an estimate made to build a new fish market on the Marina Loop Road. It must not be forgotten that this project was first proposed nearly 3 years ago.
At a cost of RS 9.97 crores, a new fish market would be built and this was as per the estimation. From the capital fund, GCC would be spending the estimated amount. It is known that HC of Madras issued an order to clean up and beautify the popular Marina Beach.
Information is that GCC has identified vacant land on the Marina Loop Road near the beach to construct the fish market. The HC of Madras has ordered GCC to remove the fish vendors from the Loop Road due to traffic congestion.
It must be taken into note that the fishermen belonging to Nochikuppam and nearby areas did not agree and they refused to clear their fish shops leading to many issues. Truth is that GCC promised the fishermen a new fish market where they could continue selling fishes.
According to an official belonging to GCC, the new fish market would come up on a land parcel extending to 2 acres. This upcoming new fish market would accommodate more than 300 fish vendors and there would be car parking also available. The official hinted that the construction process would begin after the tendering gets completed.
