Nilgiri Mountain Rail Service (NMR), one of the most hugely popular tourist attractions in Ooty (Udhagamandalam), had been stopped due to the raging first and resurgent coronavirus pandemic.
This is be resumed for today (Monday, 6th September) after a gap of 4 months!
A train is operated daily in the evenings from Mettupalayam of Coimbatore District to Udhagamandalam (Ooty).
This is a globally popular tourist attraction! The train used to be teeming with tourist crowds!
However, during this year, due to the necessity to check and prevent the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic, and also to avoid the collection of tourist crowds at a single place, this mountain train service was stopped from 29th April 2021.
Presently, there is a perceptible gradual reduction of the extent/impact of the raging coronavirus pandemic spread over the last few weeks, this globally popular mountain train service is ebbing resumed from today (Noonday, 6th September)!
At the same time, it has been suitably emphasised the need to STRICTLY ADHERE TO THE CORONA PREVENTIVE GUIDELINES! Only the passengers who registered/reserved accordingly are permitted to travel. 1st Class fare is fixed at Rs. 600/- and the 2nd class fare is Rs. 300/-.
As above, ONLY THOSE PASSENGERS WHO RESERVED AS SUCH ARE BEING PERMITTED TO TRAVEL TODAY!
