Additional electric trains to operate in Chennai Metro City from today (14th June)!

The Department of Railways has announced that additional trains will be run in the suburban routes from today (Monday, 14th June).
In the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) between Chennai Beach and Velacherry, 36 trains will be in service and the route Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpattu-Thirumalpur, 120 trains will operate. Thus, a total of 323 trains will be on service!
Chennai Railway Division has also announced additional electric train services.
208 services were already in operation from 7th June and now, the Railways have increased this to 279.
In this scenario, it has now been announced the electric train services would be increased further.
113 electric trains would be in service in the section Moore Market-Avadi-Thiruvallur-Arkonam �Tiruthani. 60 electric trains will operate in the section Moore Market-Gummidipundi-Sulurpettai.
- 36 electric trains will operate in the section Chennai Beach-Velacherry (MRTS).
- 120 electric trains will operate in the section Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpattu-Thirumalpur.
- The above 3 make up for a total of 323 electric train services.
- 4 additional electric train services will operate in the section Avadi-Pattabhiram Military Siding and 10 additional trains will operate in the section Pattabhiram-Pattabhiram Military Siding.
As such, 343 electric train services will operate from today (Monday, 14th June) in Chennai. Further, from 20th June, 98 additional trains will be operated on all Sundays.
The extent of impact/spread of the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic in Chennai Metro City has shown a decreasing trend! As such, some more relaxations have been announced in the prevailing lockdown conditions!
