After oxygen autos that were operated to save the lives of people infected with Covid-19 now oxygen bikes are doing the work in north Chennai.
Kadamai Education and Social Welfare Trust belonging to north Chennai has started to operate oxygen bikes to save lives of the people who are in need of oxygen.
It is learnt that 10 bikes have been fitted with oxygen cylinders and they would be available for the people of north Chennai localities. These bikes would go straight to the houses of the Covid-19 patients requiring oxygen.
It was mentioned by Mr. C. Vasanth Kumar, founder of the trust that they would get 200 calls when they began auto ambulances some time back. He added that the number of Coronavirus cases has been reducing in Chennai and the number of calls has also dropped. Many now need oxygen after getting discharged from the hospitals and hence the service has been launched. Before the Covid-19 patients reach their homes from the hospitals, delivering and refilling of oxygen cylinders are carried out by the trust.
It is worthy to note that there are many who have been at home and want to get hospitalised. These people would have to wait for a few hours. In this scenario, when the trust gets a call then a bike with oxygen cylinders would reach the houses of these Covid19 patients in 10 to 15 minutes to provide oxygen support till they reach the hospital.
