Several college students in Tamil Nadu getting benefited by the superb initiative.

For lakhs of students studying in the colleges in Tamil Nadu, this initiative from the Tamil Nadu government has been superb!!
The government has been offering free 2GB data for the college students in Tamil Nadu for their online study purpose as the colleges have been shut down due to the Coronavirus infection pandemic. This free 2GB data has now come in handy for these students in Tamil Nadu.
It must be recalled that in January 2021 the Tamil Nadu government had launched free distribution of 2GB data to more than 9lakhs students belonging to higher educational institutions. Point is that this would be implemented till April. The data cards have been distributed to about 9.7lakhs students studying in government, government aided arts, science engineering, polytechnic, vocational and others receiving scholarships in private institutions etc. This was brought to light by a senior officer belonging to the Higher Education Department.
There are many students who could not afford internet connections for their online classes and the free data scheme has been superb for them. He added that the internet data would be valid till April month. It must be noted that since the colleges were closed the 2 GB free data card would be renewed automatically every day. The configuration of the card is such that it would be sufficient to conduct online exams also.
Mr. R. Damodharan, JAC convenor was of the view that the 2 GB data has been issued to the students and the teaching staff could make the students study through online classes. He then mentioned that in the past students who did not want to attend the online classes could not be forced as they did not have internet facilities due to their poor background. He added that now the students do not have any other choice except to attend online classes.
