In the past few weeks, the number of Coronavirus cases has increased and the state health department has deployed additional healthcare workers from other districts in Chennai city to tackle the deadly infection.

To attend the increasing burden of patients, both infrastructure and human resources are being strengthened now. At present, the positivity rate in Chennai stands at 2.16 percent and at Chengalpet and in Coimbatore it is at 2percent.

It was later mentioned by a senior official belonging to the state health department that more number of new healthcare facilities would require additional healthcare staff to provide medical services to new patients. Doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers have been deployed for the additional wards and for the Covid care centres etc. He then spoke about how several healthcare facilities require caretakers as patients family members cannot be with them.

To accommodate more patients, more Covid care centres have been planned. Within the hospitals, separate blocks have been created to ensure adequate infrastructure if the increase in the Covid-19 cases continues in this trend. Point is that care centres would be needed for institutional quarantine services. It is now said that in those districts that are reporting many cases random testing of persons would be carried out. The cases have increased now and due to this more intensification of testing is essential. In the public places, RT-PCR tests would be done randomly now.

The health secretary Mr. J. Radhakrishnan hinted that the state health department aims to identify more Covid-19 cases and strengthen the safety measures. The neighbouring states are also seeing an increase in the Covid cases now and the truth is that clusters are the main challenges in TN. it is now revealed that the officers have been identifying micro containment areas. Now, the health department is stressing aggressive testing in places that have reported Covid-19 clusters.
