Recruitment drive at University of Madras

After a decade, the University of Madras will recruit en masse shortly. The number of vacancies comes up to more than 150 faculty posts that include 10 assistant professors and 50 associate professors.
�There are a total of 350 vacancies in the university. Half of them will be filled in two months as it is mandatory for us to meet the minimum faculty criteria set by the University Grants Commission (UGC). This has to be met before the next National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) review�, said Vice Chancellor R. Thandavan.
Officials say that, unlike the previous recruitment drive, this one will be more regulated and will stick to the rules.
