Disgruntled students and parents during engineering counselling

Counselling for engineering courses started on Monday. However, many students and parents were disgruntled. According to them, many did not get call letters and others were rejected before their certificates were checked.
�I got to know about my son`s allotted time only at 10.30pm on Sunday. I took the 3.10am bus on Monday to rush to Chennai, but on reaching here we were told that all the seats were taken�, said a parent.
Says Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions Secretary V Rhymend Uthariaraj, �(We) had planned the counselling keeping students` convenience in mind. On Monday, only those who did not want the seat or did not come for counselling were rejected. Students wanting to apply through sports quota were called to Chennai on June 13, 14 and 15 for certificate verification. They should have stayed back over the weekend, finished their counselling and then headed back. We sent text messages to nearly 1,000 students with their dates and time.�
