This linking of MRTS and suburban train in Chennai would be highly beneficial

The news that has emerged out now is that the SR or Southern Railways has got plans to link the MRTS or Mass Rapid Transit System from Velachery to the St Thomas Mount railway station by the year 2022.For several years, the extension project has been delayed because of legal issues in acquisition of 500m stretch of land near the St Thomas Mount railway station.
The foundation works for elevated tracks would start soon and it would be completed within 18 months. This was confirmed by Mr. B. Guganesan, chief public relations officer belonging to SR.
The railway stations at Adambakkam and Puzhuthivakkam has already been completed along with the portion of track work. It is now clear that the Commissioner of Railway safety or CRS would inspect the stations and amenities before services are launched. In the future, MRTS would be integrated with both suburban as well as with the metro train services.
According to an officer belonging to CMDA, the land was handed over to SR and all the legal issues have been sorted out. He added that a case was pending in the SC regarding the compensation amount with few owners was dismissed on Thursday.
