In the future, there would be an exclusive e-vehicle park at Manallur on the Chennai outskirts. There would also be 4 industrial parks across Tamil Nadu. These industrial parks would be developed by SIPCOT or State Industries Promotion Corporation Limited.
It is learnt that an amount of Rs 1536 crores would be spent for developing these industrial parks in Chennai and in other places belonging to TN. Information is that industrial parks would be set up in more than 3500 acres of land in Manallur in Tiruvallur district and also at Vallam Vadagal phase 2 and Oragadam phase- 2 in Kancheepuram district. Manaparai in Trichy district and Tindivanam in Villupuram district would also have industrial parks in the future.
Managing director of Sipcot, Mr. J. Kumaragurubaran expressed his thoughts about the upcoming industrial parks. He mentioned about creating necessary civic infrastructure and about the works that have been going on in different phases. Currently, there are 21 industrial parks in TN and soon there would be a total of26 industrial parks in TN. Truth is that these industrial parks would generate job opportunities for many people around these parks. In addition to that, the socio-economy of the region would get boosted.
E-vehicle components in Manallur industrial park:
The 691 acres in Manallur would be exclusively used for developing an e-vehicle and its component manufacturing industries. Many steps have been taken by the TN government to promote electric vehicles and related industries. The TN government has also exempted 100% tax for the electric vehicles. In the future, there would be huge demand for e-vehicles. There is a need now to establish e-vehicles and its components manufacturing industries exclusively and the Manallur Park has been designed for specific needs.
Training related to e-vehicle and auto components to the youngsters in the vicinity would be provided as a part of the project and a skill development centre would be coming up for this purpose for a cost of Rs 25 lakhs. In Manallur, electrical and electronic parts manufacturing and assembling industries would be coming up. There would also be automobile based industries plus synthetic organic chemicals and paint industries etc in this place.
