Selfie with Chennai! A new dais to be set up in the Marina Beach to take selfies (with Chennai!)!

To attract a visiting public to the world-famous Marina Beach in the Chennai Metro City, a �selfie-taking� dais bearing the banner �Namma Chennai� is being set up by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is scheduled to be opened shortly.

In the 15 zones in the Chennai Metro City under the administration of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), under the modernization projects and Wealthy City Project, the capital allotted to the Greater Chennai Corporation, and Corporate Social Responsibility/Contribution, many growth/development activities have been taken up and are in progress. As a part of this, the project of setting up a �selfie-clicking dais, bearing the banner �Namma Chennai� is set up by the Greater Chennai Corporation at the globally famous tourist spot of the Marina Beach in the Chennai Metro City. This is all set to be open for the pubic shortly!

The GCC Officials shared in this regard:

�A large number of tourists keep visiting the Marina Beach � not only from the other States of India but also from several other countries as well! Now, the selfie-clicking dais is being set up in the Marina Beach with the main objectives of attracting the youth and the children and also creating public awareness on the responsibility on cleanliness! This selfie-dais has been set up at Rs. 22 Lakhs and is of 10� high! It has the banner �Namma Chennai� � �Namma� in Tamil and Chennai in English! To facilitate taking selfies here, a 3-steps staircase is provided. In front of this special dais, seats for the pubic would be set up at Rs. 30 Lakhs.

It had been panned earlier to complete this project by the start of this year � 2020! However, the prevalent coronavirus pandemic and the preventive lockdown situation, construction activities could not continue!

With the subsequent relaxations announced, construction activities were resumed and the work has been completed in full swing. It is now planned to inaugurate this facility before Pongal Holidays for the Public to avail!�
