Who all would get COVID vaccine shots in the first phase in Chennai and TN?

Chennai and Tamil Nadu getting ready for the vaccine shots!!
For the vaccination process to begin from January, as many as 21,170 nurses are given training now for the vaccination administration process in TN. It must be noted that TN has been readying cold storage facilities in as many as 27 government medical college hospitals, 303 other government hospitals and 2286 PHCs.
Who would get vaccination shots first?
These facilities would be used to give vaccination shots to 5lakh doctors, nurses, la technicians, sanitary workers, pharmacists etc belonging to the government as well as from the private hospitals in TN. This would be in the first phase. From around 7000 healthcare establishments in Chennai, atleast 1 lakh would get the vaccine shots.
It was pointed out by Mr J. Radhakrishnan, health secretary that frontline personnel from police department, municipal administration, revenue, media, aged persons and those with co-morbidities would be vaccinated. It is well known that there are many aged persons in TN and efforts have been taken to get more vaccines. The health secretary of TN had a virtual meeting with the Union health secretary regarding the vaccination. To prepare for the immunisation, district levels committees have been formed.
The sources belonging to the health department have highlighted that TN has already got 51 walk-in coolers and 2685 secondary cold chain points ready. The Centre has been requested by TN for 1144 ice-lined refrigerators, 992 deep freezers, 10 refrigeration vaccine vehicles and 20 more walk-in coolers and freezers. As possible vaccination sites, 33438 anganwadis and 1146 health sub centres have been identified by the government of TN. By this, the entire population would be covered.
Threat of new virus strain:
The health secretary of TN then spoke about how 37 persons who have come from the UK to TN were quarantined and one person was found to be positive. He threw light about three persons who have escaped Covid screening at the airport and went to places like Thirunindavur, Tiruttamnia and Puducherry etc. Point is that these three persons have been traced and quarantined. All the three have tested positive for Coronavirus on Thursday.
