Chennai residents who have gone to other parts of TN to escape from the intensity of Coronavirus infection are facing the heat now.

People who have moved from Chennai city to their hometowns are now greeted with suspicion of being super spreaders of Coronavirus. The district administration has been keeping a close eye in on the Chennai returnees is known. It is now said that these returnees are also watched by the neighbours. New visitors have been asked to undergo Covid-19 tests in some villages belonging to southern TN.

The Chennai residents who have moved out to other parts of TN like Tuticorin, Madurai, Tirunelveli etc have been responsible for increase in the number of Covid 19 positive cases in these places. Without having an e-pass, many Chennaites have gone to various parts belonging to TN. This is considered illegal.

Many Chennai people have gone to Coimbatore and the district control room here has been recording more complaints now. Truth is 60 calls were received by the district control room in the last 3 days and the calls were mostly about the entry of Chennai residents. In central TN, extremely vigilant people alert the officials when they come across a new returnee.

Vigilance by the villagers at the grass root level was responsible for identifying those who have sneaked past the check posts without having e-passes. This was as per the collectors T. G. Vinay of Madurai, Shilpa Prabhakar Satish of Tirunelveli, Sandeep Nanduri of Tuticorin and Prashant Wadnere of Kanyakumari etc.
