The thermal scanners would be distributed to the civic workers to check the temperature of the Chennai residents.
The officials belonging to GCC spoke about how Chennai has got a population of 87 lakhs and how atleast 150 households would be thermally scanned for fever every day by each civic worker.
It is well known that for the past few months, more than 12,000 civic workers have been collecting information from residents on fever cases. This has been done to contain the Coronavirus spreading from one to another.
Workers would be visiting the houses, checking the body temperature and sharing the information to the GCC. This was mentioned by a senior officer belonging to GCC. Information collected is mobile units would be stationed in those places where fever cases are high in numbers.
To prioritise stationing of mobile hospital units in various locations, the information compiled by the workers of civic bodies would be used.
On Friday, a meeting took place in Ripon Buildings between senior officials of GCC and doctors belonging to other districts. The senior GCC officials directed doctors with PPE kits to visit households for treating home isolated patients who tested Corona virus positive.
It was later highlighted by a Corporation official that more than 60 percent of positive cases were under home isolation. He threw light on the fact that every day around 2000 positive cases get reported in Chennai. He concluded that the additional doctors who have come to Chennai would monitor those under home isolation.
