Many staffs belonging to Secretariat in Chennai tests Coronavirus positive now

More than 50 staff members belonging to various departments of Secretariat have tested positive for Coronavirus. Secretariat in Chennai is now becoming another Coronavirus cluster.
The sources have pointed out that each of the 20 departments that has been functioning in Fort St George have Covid-19 positive cases.
On Friday, 5th June 2020, Tamil Nadu Secretariat Association had made an appeal to the TN state government seeking to bring back 35% attendance at all the government offices. It had claimed that many staff were vulnerable to the infection.
As per the president of TN Secretariat Association, Mr. Peter Anthonysamy, more than 50 percent staff have been working in all the government offices of Secretariat. He added that there are many staff members belonging to the containment areas of north Chennai also.
It must be noted that earlier exemption was given to those who were above 50 years of age with co-morbid conditions and for pregnant women. Mr. Peter Anthonysamy was of the opinion that this must be there till the infection gets contained well. Important information is secretariat is being sanitized every day but there are no restrictions on the staff coming from the containment areas in Chennai. The TN Secretariat Association members want the TN chief minister and TN chief secretary to mediate in this matter and they have handed over the petitions at the offices of the above.
For the purpose of exemptions, the staff members belonging to the Secretariat have also made representation to the Ministry of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. It is important to mention that a senior IAS officer of 2003 batch has been quarantined after testing positive for Coronavirus.
According to a senior woman employee belonging to Secretariat, there has been constant stress while reporting for the work. She added that the lack of drivers has been creating issues regarding the transportation of the employees.
