More than 70% Covid-19 deaths in TN due to co-morbid conditions - State Health Department

The TN state health department had conducted death audit and it was revealed that co-morbid conditions like BP, diabetes, respiratory issues and coronary heart diseases etc were responsible for the deaths of the patients affected with Corona virus infection.
Important information gathered is most of the deaths took place in the first 4 days of the hospitalization. This was brought to light by the data analysis. In TN, in the last one week there were 25 deaths and 22 of those took place in the hospitals in Chennai. The data analysis showed that 48 percent of deaths had diabetes issue and 36 percent had hypertension issue. Respiratory issues were responsible for the deaths of 7 persons and coronary heart disease took lives of 4 persons.
It has been pointed out by the doctors belonging to RGGGH Chennai that 60 percent of the patients brought to the hospital had diabetes and 40 percent had BP. The complications due to Corona virus were more in those with co-morbid conditions.
