100% Lockdown echo: GCC emergency pass issue closed for 4 days!

The raging coronavirus pandemic has been affecting over 209 countries in the world, leading to panic among the people!  It is spreading fast in India as well!

With Tamil Nadu State placed 6th in the list of maximum affected coronavirus infection cases in India, various preventive measures are continuously being initiated by the State Government of Tamil Nadu to check and control the spread.

Accordingly, the lockdown was imposed initially fro 25th March to 14th April. Despite this, the number of persons confirmed with coronavirus infection continued to increase, each passing day. So, the lockdown was extended until 3rd May.

During this lockdown imposition, passes were issued by the state government authorities to undertake emergency travels for the citizens such as marriage, death, medical treatment, etc. The public obtained these passes applying online.

Meanwhile, as it was established that the impact and intensity of the coronavirus were more in the urban areas as compared to the rural areas. Hence, a decision was taken to impose a 100% lockdown condition for 4 days in the city corporations of Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore and for 3 days in Salem and Tirupur corporations.

In this situation, as a measure to reduce the vehicular traffic during the 100$ lockdown imposition, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced that the activity of issuing the above-mentioned emergency travel passes is being stopped for 4 days from 26th April (Sunday) to 29th April (Wednesday). Further, the online issue of travel passes has also being stopped for 4 days!
