ICMR approves the COVID-19 Test kit created by IIT Delhi Students!

The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the COVID-19 Test Kit created by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.
IIT Delhi Professor, Perumal, shared in this regard:
�We commenced the task of making this COVID-19 Test Kit by the end of this January. We have created the test kit in 3 months. The cost of this test kit is much lower in price as compared to the presently available test kits in the market. Testing in this kit is done using a cloth piece.�
�Further, as compared to the test charges done through the currently available kits, the test charges using our kit will also be much less!�
Another important favorable bit of information is that the production cost of this kit is also very less!
Indian Council of Medical Research checked and reviewed the performance of the COVID-19 test kit made by the Kusuma School of Biological Sciences under Delhi-IIT and approved the same on Thursday, 23rd April.
IIT Delhi has notified the following:
�This COVID-19 test kit was checked for performance with 100% sensitivity and special-attention by ICMR. As such, this is the first academic institute to get approved by ICMR on the Real-Time PCR basis.
This is the 1st ever performance check for COVID-19 test kits approved by ICMR. This would be extremely useful as a high-quality but low-cost test device. As fluorescence tests are not required in the testing process with this IIT-Delhi-developed test kit, the testing can be done easily!
The Research Team has further announced that with joint efforts of partners from the manufacturing industry sector, this test kit would be made available at reasonably low prices on a large scale shortly.
