People not allowed to go to Koyambedu market in 2 wheelers after 7:30 am

The Chennai Corporation has announced that people would be allowed to come to Koyambedu market to buy vegetables using their vehicles from 4 am till 7:30 only.

Point is the 2 wheelers  like bikes, mopeds etc would be seized from the people if they come to Koyambedu market after 7:30 am.

 It is known that everyday many people come to this market to buy vegetables. For preventing Corona virus spreading, social distancing is made compulsory in this market and those vehicles with passes are only allowed to enter the market.

At the Ripon buildings, meeting took place and in this meeting it was decided that as a part of intensification taken against Corona virus spread at the Koyambedu market, the big and small traders must follow preventive and protective steps. There were many officials belonging to CMDA, police, collector, corporation and traders etc who made their presence felt in the meeting.

According to Chennai Corporation commissioner, Mr. G. Prakash, the vegetable and fruit shops present at the Koyambedu market get crowded more. He explained about how now TN is under Section 144 to prevent the spread of Corona virus and how only wholesale traders and small traders have been given permission to buy fruits, veggies and flowers etc.

It was revealed by Mr. Prakash that from 18th April 2020 only wholesale as well as small traders were allowed inside the market complex with their vehicles from morning 4 am to 7:30 am. It is worthy to note that those who come to the Koyambedu market to buy fruits, vegetables and flowers with their vehicles after 7:30 am would not be allowed inside. Violating this rule would lead to the seizure of vehicles.

Important point is this time specification rule would not be applicable for those traders who come in three or four wheelers to buy vegetables.
