The central government has ordered all the airline companies to refund the air-tickets booked between 25th March and 14th April.
The refund will be made in full for the air tickets booked (domestic and abroad) in the 1st Phase of the lockdown 25th March - 14th April.
Airline services had been cancelled as a preventive measure against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic. In India, the foreign flight services were stopped on 22nd March and the domestic flight services, on 24th March.
Lockdown condition has been imposed throughout the country. In this situation, the tickets booked during the lockdown will be cancelled and the amount will be with the airline companies.
Subsequently, the airline companies had announced that refund will not be given for the flights booked but it can be used by taking flight using it before April. However, the 2nd Phase of lockdown was announced until 3rd May!
As such, it was announced that all the flights have been cancelled until 3rd May.
Passengers who had reserved asked for a refund. In this situation, the central government has ordered private airline companies to refund.
The central Ministry of civil aviation has informed that the refund for the reservations during the 1st Phase of lockdown will be in full and the refund will be made within 3 weeks for both the domestic and foreign flights booked.
