On Tuesday, Chennai Corporation Commissioner, Mr. G. Prakash highlighted that the civic body would soon start collecting swab samples of 40,000 persons. This would be as a part of fight against Corona virus. The collected samples would be sent to government identified laboratories.
It must be noted that out of these 40,000 swab samples as many as 10,000 swab samples would be from those inside the containment zones in Chennai. As many as 35 walk-in kiosks have been created at different parts of Chennai city and at these places the designated people were asked to come and provide their swabs. Polymerase chain reaction tests or PCR tests would be used to check these swab samples.
It was later mentioned by some officials belong to the Chennai Corporation that those people living in the containment zones in the vicinity of Covid-19 positive cases and those having severe influenza like issues would be asked to provide their swabs.
Information is till now, walk-in kiosks have been set up in 16 places mainly in places like Royapuram, Teynampet and Anna Nagar zones that have many Corona virus positive cases.
Mr. G. Prakash pointed out that wearing masks has been made compulsory while going out in Chennai and people could also wear handkerchiefs as long as their faces get covered properly. Cotton masks that could be reused would be good to cover the face. As many as 600 isolation wards have been created at the Chennai Trade Center in case TN needs for the future patients and Mr. Prakash visited this place for inspection.
