The State Government of Tamil Nadu has announced that all activities have been initiated to ensure the ready availability of all essential food/grocery items in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Food Department Secretary Dayanand Kataria and Agriculture Department Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi jointly gave an interview at the Chennai Chief Secretariat:
�All activities have been imitated to ensure sufficient stock and distribution of all essential food and grocery items in Tamil Nadu. At the same time, orders have been issued to the district collectors to keep the prices under check.
If grocery items are sold at higher prices, stringent legal action will be taken. Petrol, diesel, and LPG cooking gas are being sold without any shortage problems.
Bakery shops have been permitted to be open until 1.00 PM.
The fund of Rs. 1000 Crores given by the Tamil Nadu Government Relief Fund has been distributed at Rs. 1000 each for 97% of the citizens. Out of these, the ration shop staff visited 50000 houses and distributed these.
3000 persons have given up the offer of the relief of Rs. 1000.
As per the recent announcement by the Tamil Nadu State government,19 different grocery items worth Rs. 500 will be sold at the ration shops in 1 or 2 days!
There are no blocks for the transport of the agricultural equipment throughout Tamil Nadu. There is sufficient stock of the fertilizer items such as urea on the stock.
The farmers can use the government godowns free for storage.
The activity has been initiated to procure 1.26 Lakhs metric tons of rice.
There is no block on the perfume makers to buy flowers from the farmers.�
State Government demand for the immediate release of the balance Rs. 1321 Crores
The Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for Food Safety, Kamaraj, has spoken to the Central Minister for Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan through video-conference and insisted:
�The central government must immediately release the subsidy of Rs. 1321 Crores given for the year 2015-16!
If this is released immediately, it can be utilized fort eh procurement of rice from the farmers!�
