The local body officials have collected the amount for the water connections and sewer connections but the residents belonging to Ullagaram - Puzhuthivakkam area in the south Chennai and Madhavaram in north Chennai are yet to receive water as well as sewer connections.

This has now attracted the attention of many because of the fact that the Chennai reservoirs have water now when compared to the summer season. It is well known that Chennai city faced severe water crisis in the summer season.

Three months back, the residents belonging to Ullagaram- Puzhuthivakkam, paid development charge of Rs 10 per square feet and some residents even paid the charges as early as February 2019 also.

According to Mr Rengasamy, head, Ramnagar Resident’s Welfare Association, it was very clear that the residents were given assurance of getting water connections in a month of time. He added that the residents haven’t got water connections even after a year.

There are few residents living in the flats who have paid the amount of Rs 2 lakhs for getting water connections. Important information is assessment for several thousand water connections were carried out but just 300 to 400 were given.

The core places belonging to Chennai city are getting regular water supply but in Ullagaram - Puzhuthivakkam area the water connections haven’t been issued for the residents. It is now revealed that every resident of this place spends Rs 700 per lorry of water and in a month Rs 2500 is being spent for the sake of water.

A sewage connection line was inaugurated in the Ullagaram - Puzhuthivakkam by the chief minister of TN, Mr E. Palaniswamy in the month of June in 2019. The truth is only now CMWSSB officials have started giving individual connections.

In Madhavaram, branch lines are yet to be drawn out of the main sewer line. This was pointed out by Mr Arjun, resident of Kavankarai, Puzhal. The residents here have paid their charges about 18 months back itself. Just 40 percent work to lay the waterline has been completed in Madhavaram and work would resume in April. This was as per CMWSSB official.
