There were drizzles yesterday in several districts of Tamil Nadu.  Today, there have been rather heavy rains in 1 or 2 places.

As regards Chennai, it has been slight drizzle in a few places and heavy rains in a few other places. As today is the 2nd Saturday of the month of December, most of the schools and colleges are closed.

However, as the half-yearly examinations are in progress in some schools, these students were exposed to rain while going to school/college.

As usual, the rain has flooded many streets and roads and rainwater has stagnated in puddles in the low-lying areas! Naturally, this has somewhat upset the daily routine of the people.

It has been raining heavily in Ramanathapuram. In fact, the effect of the northeast monsoon seasonal rains has been more intense in the district of Ramanathapuram.

The farmers observe the monsoon seasonal rains this year had been more copious only this year after the year 2011. As such, most of the water-bodies in the district including wells, lakes, and ponds have filled to capacity.

With the reduced the intensity of rain in the last few days, the weather has been chiller especially during the night sessions.

In this situation, there was light rain in Ramanathapuram on Friday evening (13th December). It drizzled throughout the night. It rained heavily this morning (Saturday, 14th December). So, there was a delay in the opening of the shops.

There have been widespread rains in Coonoor and its surrounding areas today (15th December).  Due to the heavy rains in the Nilgiri district over the last 2 weeks, there were landslides in several places. This put the public to some hardships. Normal life was severely affected. Subsequently, the intensity of rain has abated and the climate became rather chill. In this situation, there was widespread rain in Coonoor and its surrounding areas since this morning.  This rain and chill compounded have affected the normal day-to-day life! At the same time, tourists to his place are delighted at this weather and are enjoying the same!

There have been widespread rains in Dindigul district as well.

It rained heavily in several places in Chingleput district this morning (Saturday, 14th December). There were heavy rains in the areas of Tambaram, Perungalathur, Vandalur, and Anagaputhur.
