The smart city award goes to Chennai Corporation now!!

GCC and CSCL have added one more feather to their cap now.
At the Digital Transformation Award 2019 held at New Delhi on Wednesday, CSCL of Chennai Smart City Limited was awarded ‘Social Innovation for Accelerating Transition to Sustainable Cities’.
It must be taken into account that this award was received by Mr. M. Govinda Rao, MD of CSCL and deputy commissioner (works) of Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC. Media and public policy organization, Governance Now organized this event.
The sensational piece of news is CSCL and GCC was recognized for incorporating the best features of the digital transformation of 4 projects- Namma Chennai app, solar rooftop, cycle sharing system, and 28 Smart Class. It is brought out that these projects` major goal was to improve the liveability by providing cutting edge technology in service delivery by the government.
Important information is in the year 2018 Namma Chennai app was launched as a grievance redressal app. It must be noted that the smart class project has implemented 28 digital classrooms in 28 corporation run schools. In the month of February in 2018, the cycle sharing system was launched and the solar rooftop project was launched on 14th August 2019 by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
