Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has asked the Centre to allocate Rs. 70 crores to help build own buildings for all the Courts in the State for the year 2013-14 during the meet of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts.
In her speech, read out by K.P. Munusamy, Tamil Nadu Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development, Law, Courts and Prisons, she said, ‘(The) State Government has made adequate provision of funds for the construction of new buildings. I am constrained to point out that the flow of funds from the Central government has been very paltry. In fact, under the Centrally-sponsored scheme for judicial infrastructure, no funds were released in Tamil Nadu in the years 2010-11 and 2011-12. It was only after repeated follow up that a sum of Rs 19.53 crore was released to the state in the year 2012-13.’
