In the recent times, we have been hearing news about the huge time delay in the supply of water to the residents of Chennai even after they have booked for water in advance. This has resulted in many issues for the residents.

The latest news is CMWSSB or Chennai metropolitan Water supply and Sewerage Board has launched a new scheme Dial for Water 2.0. In this scheme, the consumers would get water supply within 2 days of booking. Fantastic isn’t it!!

On Friday, 26th July 2019, metro water tweeted out changes and it is clear that beginning from 29th of July this new scheme of CMWSSB would come into existence. By this, many residents of the Chennai city would be hugely benefited. Point to be noted is under the new scheme the date of water supply is assured to the residents of Chennai. It is revealed that if the booking for water supply is made on 29th July then the consumer would be able to choose the date of supply as 30th or 31st July.

Information is number of trips that a water tanker could make in each area has been ascertained and booking is restricted accordingly. It is now said that after getting the water supply the consumer would be able to book for the next supply only after 7 to 10 days. It is superb to mention here that under this new scheme of CMWSSB 9KL or kilo litres, 12KL, 16KL capacity water tankers would be made available for the multi-storeyed buildings or MSB. In addition to this, 3KL, 6KL and 9KL capacity tankers would be made available for non MSBs. Information collected is either online booking or booking by calling the number 044 45674567 could be done by the consumers.

Over the phone, consumers would be able to opt only for 3KL water tankers and mode of payment would be cash on delivery. Net banking, debit or credit cards could be used for paying by those who book by online. Across the Chennai city every day, metro water lorrys are making as many as 12000 trips to supply water to the residents. Point is 2500 trips are made for Dial for Water. It is brought out that pendency arose due to increase in the demand and the number of bookings.

The number of lorrys has been increased from 850 to 1150 by the CMWSSB and still the waiting period of the consumers in getting water supply did not come down. It is worthy to note that under this new scheme of CMWSSB there would be no provision for cancellation and hence the consumers are requested to book as per their needs.
