LPG pipeline from Chennai to Madurai
An LPG pipeline connecting Chennai and Madurai via Trichy will be laid, much to the delight of consumers. LPG or liquefied petroleum gas or cooking gas is a much wanted resource and supply does not keep up to the demand.

The pipeline will be constructed by the IPPL (Indian Oil-Petronas Ltd.), a joint venture between Indian Oil and Malaysian company Petronas. The LPG Import Export Terminal was inaugurated in Ennore on Tuesday. The terminal has a capacity of 600,000 tonnes per annum.

Chairman of IPPL M. Nene said, Oil marketing companies are in the process of releasing 55 million new connections by 2015 in a bid to help government achieve domestic LPG penetration of 75 per cent in India. Currently, the combined consumer strength stands at 144 million.
