Additional seats of over 2 lakhs in central government academic institutes

The central cabinet has approved to provide additional seats of 2 lakhs in the central government academic institutions throughout the country.
The central government has recently brought the system of 10% reservation quota for the economically backward section of society. In this situation, the central cabinet has granted approval for an addition 214766 seats in 158 central government academic institutions.
Accordingly, additional seat provision will be made � 119983 seats in the academic year 2019-20 and 95783 seats in the academic year 2020-21.
Approval has also been given granting fund of Rs. 4315 Crores to the central government academic institutions in order to implement the 10% reservation quota for the economically backward category.
