The Directorate of Technical Education to conduct counselling for engineering courses

Information is gathered that the counselling for engineering courses the coming academic year will be conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education. With these. A lot of issues which were pending to be resolved have come to a conclusion.
However, some academic experts still opine that counselling for engineering courses conducted without the cooperation/participation of Anna University may lead to certain maloperations.
Until now, Anna University had been conducting the counselling for the engineering course (B.E/ and B. Tech.) for the seats under the government quota in the engineering colleges throughout Tamil Nadu.
A Tamil Nadu Engineering Courses selection Council was formed exclusively for this. The Vice-Chancellor of Anna University was the President of the Council and the Anna University Professor was the Secretary and the other officials including the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education were the members of the Council.
In this situation, the Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Surappa, complained that the Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Government of Higher Education had appointed some more members in the council on his without informing the other council officials/members. Subsequently, he resigned from the Tamil Nadu Engineering College Student Admission Council. With this, doubts were raised as to whether Anna University will conduct the counselling for approaching the new academic year.
With online counselling being conducted from the last year, it was informed all the related software for this was with Anna University. This also led to some more confusion.
Because of this, the students completing +2 this year and eager to join engineering courses could not take any decision in this regard.
In this scenario, the Government Circles of Higher Education Department have informed that the Directorate of the Technical Education Council will conduct the counselling this year. However, no official announcement has been made so far.
Meanwhile, the experts in this education field have observed that while Anna University had been conducting the counselling sessions for the last 22 years, whether it would really be possible to conduct the counselling sessions without any coordination/cooperation from Anna University!
