The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisamy, released the new book - �Tamil Nadu Combined Development Regulation and Building - Rules and Regulations - 2019.
In a related report by the state government of Tamil Nadu, it is mentioned:
�There are separate rules and regulations to obtain the approval of buying a plot or construction. These Rules and Regulations are presently available in separate editions/books such as
- Tamil Nadu Urban-Rural Law 1971
- Chennai Corporation Law 1919
- Tamil Nadu District Administrations Law 1920
- Tamil Nadu Rural Administration Law 1994
And other corporations and local administrations Laws.
Now, all these Laws have been brought into a single book form �Tamil Nadu Combined Development Regulation and Building Rules and Regulations -2019�.
This book was officially released by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy in a function organised in the Chief Secretariat and the 1st copy was received by the Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
This booklet, �Tamil Nadu Combined Development Regulation and Building Rules and Regulations � 2019� has been created following the general building Rules and regulations, and other guidelines such as
- UN Urban Development Execution Plan 2016 approved by the Indian government
- The central government�s Model Laws
- National Building construction guidelines,
- National Urban Transport � related Development Policy
- The Rules and Regulations in the other states
The opinions/suggestions/recommendations sought from the public was also given due consideration while compiling this booklet.
As per the new Rules and Regulations, the Floor Space Index (FSI) has been increased for the new constructions. Further, the permitted space gaps on the sides of the construction have also been reduced. The number of floors in the multi-storeyed construction and the allowed height of the new constructions has also been increased. This concession would facilitate the reduction in prices of the new houses/flats which can be afforded by the poorer sections of the society.
At the same time, the new general Rules and Regulations have been devised in order to ensure the safety of the construction and to detect any violations in construction during the initial stages.
Further, the procedure to fill up the applications and the checking procedure of the receive applications have been simplified so that the approval for construction is processed and given taking a shorter time.
The event of the release of the above booklet was attended by the state minister S. P. Velumani, the President of the Housing Development Corporation P. K. Vairamuthu, the state government Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, the Chief Secretary of the Housing Development and Urban Development Department S. Krishnan, the Chief Secretary of the Department of City Administration and Drinking Water distribution, Harmantar Singh, CMDA Secretary-member Rajesh Lakhani,Chennai Metro City Corporation Commissioner T. Karthikeyan, and the Director of the Rural Development Department K. Bhaskaran participated.
