The Chennai city gets 56 new MTC buses now

Posted on: 08/Jan/2019 10:00:43 AM
The damaged buses operated by the Metropolitan Transport Corporation or MTC were replaced and the Chennai city has now got as many as 56 new buses. Last time Chennai got just one bus when the government of TN purchased new buses is well known. The important information collected was these new buses have got less number of seats 39 seats when compared to the 44 and the leg space between the seats is more now.

People travelling towards OMR or Old Mahabalipuram Road could feel happy because the MTC has decided to operate 25 new buses along OMR and by this IT corridor would be connected to different parts of Chennai city. These new buses would carry 80 to 100 people each time and there would be 11 trips in a day. It is brought out that this move by the MTC would attract more techies as well as the college students to the government buses.

There is no rail connectivity in OMR and people who come to IT offices in OMR usually take trains till Thiruvanmiyur or Taramani railway stations. From these places the people then take share auto or a MTC bus to reach their workplaces. The point to be taken into account is the cab rides are expensive during the morning and in the evening peak hours of time. Another issue is the long waiting time that was required to get a ride in the cab. Along OMR, the MTC has increased the bus services already and from the month of November more than 110 additional trips were operated every day along the important routes like 570 (Kelambakkam to Koyambedu) and 519 (Thiruporur to T. Nagar).

The superb information is from Monday, 7th January 2019, 25 new MTC buses have replaced the more battered of the 70 vehicles MTC operates on OMR. There are few important routes like Broadway to Red hills, Thirunindravur to Poonamallee, Tambaram to Sriperumbudur, T. Nagar to Thiruvanmiyur etc in Chennai and it is said that other 31 new MTC buses would be making their presence felt in these routes. It is worth mentioning that the routes were finalized depending on their demands.
