Neeta and Prabhakar Krishna Rao run Jeet Association for Support to Cancer Patients in Mumbai and are in Chennai to talk to hospitals that will accept their contribution. The couple, who lost their son to lymphoma seventeen years ago, formed the NGO to help educate cancer patients and their loved ones.
They feel that doctors do not have enough time to talk to their patients and answer their queries. Mr. Rao says, �Doctors in India do not have the time to talk to patients. I don�t blame them. At the Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, doctors see a hundred patients every day. Where will they find the time to speak to each of them?�
Mrs. and Mr. Rao have published several booklets about the disease from a non-medical point of view and hope to sell them, at a nominal cost, at hospitals that specialize in cancer treatment.
