Dr. MGR Medical University in Chennai received 44000 admission applications

It was in the year 1987 Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University came into existence. This university is situated in Guindy in Chennai and is second largest health sciences university in entire India. It is now said that this Dr. MGR Medical University has received 43,935 application forms for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in both government as well as in self financing medical colleges.
On Tuesday, 19th June 2018, there was a long queue at the selection committee office on Directorate of Medical Education or DME premises to submit the application forms. Till the end of sales on 18th of June 2018, the selection committee sold as many as 38271 application forms and as many as 4566 free application forms were sold to candidates belonging to SC/ST.
It is revealed that 24933 students bought application forms for the medical courses in government medical colleges and 13338 students bought application forms of self financing medical colleges.
This year a total of 2900 seats in the government medical colleges and 783 seats in private medical colleges are available. It is important to note that fifteen percent of seats have been reserved for all- India quota. On 6th of May 2018, CBSE conducted NEET and as many as 45336 students belonging to Tamil Nadu cleared the exam. Beginning from 1st of July 2018, the counselling is expected to begin and as per the marks secured by the candidates in NEET the admissions would be given to the students. In the year 2017, the number of application submitted was 51873 and it got reduced this year.
