City beaches turning into cesspools

As the city, the country and the entire world talk about environmental conservation and protection of its natural resources, it is shocking to find illegal sewage pipes along the lovely, clean beaches on East Coast Road. These pipes have been laid by resorts along the road, and the waste flows straight into the Bay of Bengal.
The corporation and Panchayat officials have put the onus on Chennai Metro Water. In an age of corporate social responsibility, it is disheartening to find such a blatant misuse of our common resources.
