Children under 8 can swim only under parental supervision

Since the death of a student at a prominent city school in August last year, authorities have been working hard to regulate swimming pool laws in the city. A group of experts from the Education Department, Fire services and the Sports Development Authority of India have sent in their recommendations got Government approval.
It has been recommended that children under 8 years of age will not be allowed to enter a swimming pool unless supervised by the parent. This will hold good for pools in schools, hotels, apartments and amusement parks. It is, however, not clear if the supervision can be extended to any responsible adult.
