Soon the residents belonging to Kilambakkam near Chennai would wake up to the sounds of horns of buses. Located in the district of Tiruvallur near Chennai this Kilambakkam is making hot news now.
It is now revealed that in another two years of time bus terminal in this place would start functioning and it would beneficial to many.
On 5th April 2018, deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. O. Paneerselvam became cynosure of many eyes when he conducted an inspection of this Kilambakkam bus terminus site.
It is superb to mention that this new bus terminus at Kilambakkam would cater to the southbound buses and this bus terminus would be making its presence felt in 88.52 acre land.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. O. Paneerselvam later spoke about how in another 2 months of time detailed project report would be ready. He hinted that in another two years of time the building of new bus terminus in Kilambakkam would be completed.
The bus stand near Vandalur would cost huge amount of Rs 321 crores and this bus stand would accommodate as many as 250 buses daily. It is worthy to note that as many as 300 spare buses could be parked inside the bus stand. This was confirmed by the officials belonging to CMDA.
To operate link services to CMBT and other parts of Chennai city, CMDA has plans to build a MTC bus stand on the 5 acres of land. It is now said that NOC or no objection certificate from ASI or Archeological Survey of India is essential to construct the bus stand.
An official from CMDA spoke about how they are hopeful of getting this NOC from ASI as norms allow construction activity near the particular archaeological site. It is known that an objection from ASI has been one of the barriers for the delay in this Kilambakkam bus stand.
