Sabarimala Temple Makara Jyoti Today

Devotees were seen in thousands on Sunday at the Lord Ayyappa temple at the famous pilgrims centre of Sabarimala in Kerala for sighting the holy flame, Makara Jyoti, the ultimate event of the 66-day annual Mandalam-Makara Vilakku pilgrimage.
The Makara Jyoti will be sighted on Monday evening.
The special Makara Samkrama Puja, the ultimate ritual of the pilgrimage season, would be performed at the sanctum sanctorum at 6.25 pm on Monday after the Deeparadhana (worship by lights) for which the idol of Lord Ayyappa would be adorned with Thiruvabharanam (holy ornaments) brought from His ancestral Valiya Koyikkal Palace at Pandalam.
Officials of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), the body in charge of the administration of the pilgrim centre, said on Sunday that all preparations for the Makara Vilakku had been completed while security arrangements were reviewed by top police officials. About 3,000 policemen had been deployed to ensure tight security at Sabarimala for the event.
