President Ram Nath Kovind is visiting Tamil Nadu today (Saturday, 23rd December) on a 2-day tour.
He is scheduled to arrive at the Madurai Airport by an Indian Air Force flight. Then, he flies by helicopter to Mandapam. From there, he is to proceed by car to Rameswaram. He has a Darshan at Sri Ramanathaswamy temple.
At 1.25 PM, he is scheduled to visit former president Abdul Kalam’s memorial and offer prayers.
In the afternoon, he will fly to Madurai Airport by helicopter and flies to Chennai Aiport by IAF plane.
The president will be received at the airport by the Tamil Nadu governor Panwarilal Purohit and the Chief Minister E. Palanisamy.
From the airport, the president will go the Raj Bhavan at Guindy. He will participate in the concluding ceremony of the 32nd Conferences of the Indian Engineers’ Congress.
The president stays in Chennai for the night and is scheduled to fly to Hyderabad tomorrow (Sunday, 24th December). It is learned that he may be meeting some important persons.
This is the president’s 1st visit to Tamil Nadu after he assumed office and a grand reception is being organised.
Strong security has been arranged for his travel at Rameswaram, Madurai, and Chennai.
