As it is an auspicious day for performing weddings, jasmine flower was sold at Rs. 510 per kg in Sathyamangalam flower market.
As the season of wedding days are available in the Tamil calendar month of Avani (during the fortnight of growing moon), there has been an increase in the demand for flowers.
So, there has been a steep increase in the price of flowers.
Yesterday Jasmine was sold at Rs. 510 per kg, Mullai (rotana) at Rs. 340 per kg, Kanakaambaram (fire-cracker flower) at Rs. 800 per kg, Sampangi (tuberose) at Rs. 320 per kg, Kaakada at Rs. 375 per kg, Chendumalli at Rs. 77 per kg, and Pattupoo at Rs. 130 per kg.
This price rise was welcomed with great cheer by the flower-harvesting farmers.
