CM announces projects to improve power infrastructure

As per the Legislative Assembly Act 118, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy made a series of announcements on the department of energy.

A new substation of 400kV along with the related transmission lines will be set up in the Manalmedu section in the Nagai district at a cost of Rs. 650 Crores.

A new 400 kV GIS substation (Gas Insulated Substation) will be set up in Koyambedu, Chennai Metro City along with the required transmission lines at a cost of Rs. 1300 Crores.

The existing 230kV substation in Taramani, Chennai, will be upgraded to 400 kV GIS substation along with required transmission lines.

A 500 MW solar power plant will be set up in Kadaladi circle in Ramanathapuram district covering the area of Narippaiyur and nearby villages at a cost of Rs. 2350 Crores.by TANGEDCO on the basis of Engineer- Buy- Build.

In order to develop and strengthen existing power distribution system in Chennai Metro City, the various activities including the setting up of an additional 31 new substations, upgrading of the existing 314 high-voltage transformers to improve their efficiency, new 33/11 kV chargers installation, and strengthening of the existing 33/11 kV chargers will all be taken up at a cost of Rs. 1800 Crores.

4 substations of 230kV will be set up in different places in Tamil Nadu. 44 substations of 110 kV will be set up. 80 substations of 33 kV will also be setup for a total of 128 new substations at a cost of Rs. 1347 Crores.

A MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) will be signed between Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency and Energy Efficiency Service Limited. With this, provisions to expedite the activities all efficiency improvement avenues and develop the renewable energy sources and also make all efforts to reduce the mining of fuel.
