Physically handicap can now book train tickets

For the differently abled, the southern railways has now introduced online ticket booking option at slashed rates. This follows 2 years after the same announcement by the Indian Railways.
According to the revised rules last month, a person who is differently abled can make online ticket booking at the IRCTC portal with their disabled ID card number got from the Southern Railway.
In every train, in all the 4 levels, there are four lower berths earmarked for the disabled. When all these four gets availed of, these passengers will then have to move on to the counters for getting concession. There are also concession given for AC class tickets at counters, said a senior official from the Southern Railway.
In the course of booking tickets through IRCTC portal, official sources say that passengers need to tick the physically handicap option at the time of booking on the main page. They should provide ID card number and other details in the following page. Once the details are shared, he can avail the railway concessions, say officials.
