Skype to withdraw services in these mobile devices

As a move to attract more uses for its revamped version of mobile app, Skype will withdraw its services for a host of older mobile models.
 
The mobile app owned by Microsoft will drop off its support for several old platforms starting from 1st July. With this, a number of smartphone users will thus not be able to make use of access the app, say reports.
 
The decision to withdraw support on a number of platforms follows integrating snapchat-style feature on Skype. As per reports, this move is made in order to attract more people towards the newer revamped version of the app.
 
We want all our customers get the best experience of Skype. It becomes necessary to withdraw services to older versions, said a Microsoft spokesperson. In unsupported devices enabled with Skype, there are possibilities of experiencing problems with calls or chats, or lost or dropped calls or instant messaging may be some of the problems. Or perhaps, the app will cease functioning.
 
Here is a list of all the operating systems that are to lose Skype support:
  • Android 4.0.2 and lower
  • BlackBerry OS 7.1 and lower
  • iOS 7 and lower
  • Windows Phone 8.1 and lower
