Posted on: 03/Jun/2017 3:34:39 PM
Amidst a time when IT major Infosys is laying off 400 employees on grounds of poor performance, the firm has announced that 20,000 people are to be recruited this year. It claims complaints about large-scale job loss as exaggerations.

The COO of Infosys, UB Pravin Rao says companies like itself have got new opportunities with tremendous technology driven transformations.

Speaking about the layoffs, he says it is an annual process that is handled based on employee performance. This year, the number is 300-400 which is the same as other years.

Quoting the company as the second largest software exporter, it said Infosys creates more jobs and recruits more people and quits only a few people solely for performance reasons.

Rao had a meeting with minister with co-Chairman of Infosys Ravi Venkatesan.

When enquired about NR Narayana Murthy’s comment that we can prevent job cuts in companies if senior employees volunteer for salary cut and show interest in re-skilling, Rao refused to comment anything.

He further affirmed that other IT players like TCS and Infosys will continue their recruitment processes.
