Pranab Visits Madras High Court Today

President Pranab Mukherjee arrived here today on his maiden visit to the state after assuming the highest offi ce in India,to a red carpet welcome by the Governor, Chief Minister and offi cials at the Old Airport.
Arriving by a special IAFAircraft from New Delhi,Mr Mukherjee, who is here to participate in the 150th anniversary celebrations of Madras High Court this evening, was received at the airport by Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, her Cabinet colleagues, Hig Court Chief Justice M Y Yu-suf Eqbal and senior officers of the Defence Triad.
He was given a guard of honour by the tri-services before being escorted to a specially erected pedestal where Ms Jayalalithaa introduced her Cabinet colleagues and higher offi cials of the State Administration.
The First Citizen of India later droveto the Raj Bhavan at Guindy here.Mr Mukherjee was accompanied by Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid.
After participating in the sesquicentennial of Madras High Court, Mr Mukherjee will leave for Tirupati later in the evening.
