The Director of DPH (Department of Public Health) Dr. K. Kuzhandaiswami informed that the camp for the administration of polio drops will be conducted on 2nd and 30th April in Tamil Nadu.
As a routine, the camps for the administration of polio drops will be conducted in 2 stages in the state of Tamil Nadu during the months of January and February.
The polio drops are administered to children under the age of 5 in these camps. As per the recommendations of WHO (World Health Organisation), a special camp for the Rubella Vaccination for the children aged from 9 months to 15 years commenced on 6th March.
Around 1.76 Crores of infants and children will be administered with Rubella Vaccination till 14th March.
Because of the Rubella Vaccination drive, polio drops administration camps could not be conducted as scheduled regularly during January and February. The public got somewhat confused as usual polio drops administration camp was not conducted.
When enquiring about this to the Director of DPH Dr. Kuzhandaiswami, he explained that as the Rubella Vaccination drive was under way, the polio drops administering camp got postponed.
Now, as per the revised schedule, the 1st phase of the camps for polio drops administration will be conducted from 2nd April and the 2nd phase will be conducted on 30th April.
