Auction of turmeric at Tirunchengodu Agricultural Producers Cooperative Marketing Association

Yesterday auction took place at Tirunchengodu Agricultural Producers Cooperative Marketing Association in Namakkal District. Farmers brought 400 sack loads of turmeric. The turmeric was sold for Rs 25 Lakhs through tender. Virali Manjal (turmeric) was sold between Rs 7699 and 9599 per quintal.
The root type was sold between Rs 7469 and Rs 7799. Panangali Manjal got a price ranging between Rs 8099 and Rs 10899. The money was immediately settled to the farmers. The co-operative society officials mentioned that the farmers got Rs 400 extra per quintal when compared to other markets.
