Over 6,000 people from the Northeast are reported to have fled Bangalore overnight amid rumours that they could be attacked like some of their compatriots in Pune and Mumbai in the aftermath of Assam riots.
Hundreds of people from the region are headed home if one goes by the number of tickets sold by the railways.Railway authorities confirm they have sold nearly 5,000 tickets to people bound for Guwahati and beyond.
Railway officials said they would run more special trains for those wishing to travel to the Northeast, if the situation demands.
